I am a yoga teacher for people who want to do yoga, but think they can’t. I teach yoga with gentle movements that use the breath as your guide. Mindfulness and stress reduction are major components. This style of yoga is especially suited to people who have never exercised before, seniors, and those with mobility or weight issues because everything is done seated in a chair. Regular clothing is fine and you can wear your eyeglasses.
The key is moving with the breath. Try it: raise your arms… and lower them.
Now do it again, but this time match your breath to your movements. Raise your arms with a slow, deep inhalation….. and lower them with a long, slow exhalation.
Notice the difference? It’s simple, but powerful. So if you’ve always wanted to do yoga but think you can’t, we can.
My gentle, seated yoga classes are also helpful for people who experience neck stress and poor posture from prolonged periods of sitting due to working on computers, weaving, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. I make handspun yarn using a spinning wheel and have taught yoga at the MidAtlantic Fiber Association’s 2019 and 2021 conferences.
